Tropical Low 24U
A tropical low (24U) may form to the north of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands on the weekend.
A trough lies to the northwest of the Australian region.
A weak tropical low (24U) may develop within this trough on the weekend and drift southwards, entering the Australian region to the north of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
During next week there is uncertainty over the movement of 24U. It may move towards the southwest initially, or remain slow moving. Later next week it may move towards the east.
If 24U forms, it will most likely remain a weak system during next week. There is only a Low (5%) chance of it developing into a tropical cyclone from next Tuesday.
Residents of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands should keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
