• A tropical low (16U) may form north of the Australian Region in the Banda Sea or northern Arafura Sea during the weekend or early next week.
  

• The risk of 16U becoming a tropical cyclone is Low from Monday onwards.
  

• Initially 16U may remain slow moving but it may begin to drift southwards during the middle of next week.
  

• The further 16U moves south, the less likely it is to develop into a tropical cyclone due to unfavourable conditions.

The risk of Tropical Low 16U entering the Australian region has decreased, and it will no longer be tracked.
A tropical low (16U) is forming in the Banda Sea, north of the Australian region.
The risk of 16U becoming a tropical cyclone increases to Low on Monday and Tuesday, but it is expected to remain north of the Australian region.
From Wednesday, conditions become unfavourable and 16U is likely to weaken and ultimately dissipate without entering the Australian region.
The situation will continue to be monitored and updated here if required.
